Chemical Composition of Urinary Stones, in Stone Passers at Larkana
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: To determine the chemical composition of spontaneously passed urinary stones. Study design: Descriptive. Place and duration: The study was conducted at public and private Pathology laboratories of Larkana from Jan: 2009 to Dec: 2010. Patients and methods: Stones of 278 patients were analyzed chemically, using titrimetric method for estimation of calcium and colorimetric method for uric acid and other anions. Results: Urinary stones of persons ranging in age from 2 to 72 years were determined, having a male to female ratio 2.8:1, the frequency of compounds in stones was calcium oxalate (33.1%), uric acid (18.3%) and struvite stone (7.9%) while percentage of mixed calcium and urate stones were 18% and 22.7% respectively. Conclusion: Chemical composition of spontaneously passed urinary stones is not different from stones retrieved through pyelolithotomy or by extra corporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL).

Optimization of Imaging Parameters in Micro-CT Scanner Based On Signal-To-Noise Ratio for the Analysis of Urinary Stone Composition
Introduction: Micro-CT scanner with a resolution of about 5 micrometers is one of the modalities used to create three-dimensional/two-dimensional images of urinary stones. This study aimed to optimize imaging parameters in micro-computed tomography (CT) scanner based on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of urinary stones for the analysis of stone composition. <stro...
متن کاملThe composition and quantitative analysis of urinary calculi in patients with renal calculi.
To get complete information about the chemical composition and physicochemical principles underlying the formation of stone there is a need for more precise information. At present there is no single analytical procedure that provides an exact quantitative analysis of urinary calculi. In this present procedure it is assumed that only calcium oxalate monohydrate, hydroxyapatite, or magnesium amm...

The aim of this study was to investigate the utility of single-source dual-energy computed tomography (SS-DECT) composition analysis in characterizing different types of urinary stones and differentiating them from phleboliths. This study included 29 patients with urinary stones who were scheduled for surgery. All patients were scanned, first using single-energy computed tomography acquisition ...

Abstract: Background and Aim: Urinary tract infections are one of the most commonly reported nosocomial infections caused by colonization of E. coli in the mucosal epithelium and in the formation of microbial biofilms, which damage the host tissue. The aim of this study was to determine the amount of biofilm formation of uropathogenic E. coli based on urinary tract stones of people with urin...
